Reston, Virginia - Hybrid

Thales is hiring an experience IT Security Specialist for the North America Biometrics Programs team, you will implement information assurance measures, offering security recommendations to assist the operations team in meeting business continuity, operations security, and regulatory standards. You will assess and mitigate security risks throughout the project life cycle, validate and verify security requirements, and contribute to the system certification and accreditation planning and testing, all while collaborating with the Prime contractor and maintaining a public trust clearance with the Department of Homeland Security.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must have U.S. or Dual Citizenship (with U.S. being one of the citizenships) and be able to obtain post-hire Public Trust Security Clearance from the Department of Homeland Security.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Review and dissect security scan results and coordinate responses to the Government with appropriate data center personnel

  • Perform, prepare, and ensure that the IT environment meets security audit requirements as defined

  • Manage mitigation and remediation of security vulnerabilities

  • Provide support to security incidents and coordinate with technical staff

  • Provide security recommendations to the operations team to address security related vulnerabilities and bug fixes

  • Review Information Security Vulnerability Management (ISVM) to determine which apply to the environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering; Computer Software Engineering or other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics related disciplines OR si (6) years’ experience in Information Assurance, Information Systems Security, and/or Cyber Security in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Information Assurance, Information Systems Security, and/or Cyber Security

  • Proficient in information security vulnerabilities and remediation

  • High-level knowledge of AIX, Suse, and Windows Operating Systems

  • High-level understanding of firewalls, proxies, security information, event management antivirus, and intrusion detection and prevention system concepts.

  • Strong communicator at all levels of an organization and team oriented, but can work independently with minimal supervision
