Job Summary:


Responsible for assisting with the implementation, maintenance and improvement of KDC's Food Safety Systems including, cGMP's, PRP's, HACCP and GFSI certification, as well as continuous food safety program improvement.



Essential Functions:



  1. Assist with all aspects of the quality system including the corrective action, preventive action, document management, internal audits and the process improvement process as well as other processes affiliated with our quality assurance system and/or our GFSI-based food safety system.

  2. Coordinate the internal audit process and schedule to meet all applicable cGMPs, GFSI, Organic and the new FSMA standards.

  3. Coordinate completion of food safety and quality Customer questionnaires.

  4. Coordinate and complete evaluation of new and differently sourced raw materials against food safety parameters.

  5. Assist and help perform scheduled mock recalls to ensure the system is robust, accurate, and efficient.

  6. Coordinate HACCP and PRP validation and verification actions.

  7. Verify the FSMA rules and standards are accurately met.

  8. Backup the head of the Food Safety department, to direct the activities of the Food Safety Team members.

  9. Assist in the development, implementation and management of effective food safety and security programs

  10. Assure proper programs are in place to meet strategic goals as well as all applicable Federal and State regulations.

  11. Aids in analysis of food safety and/or quality system problems.

  12. Works directly with management and production employees to troubleshoot, solve food safety issues and implement corrective actions based on solid root cause analysis.

  13. Works directly with management, production employees and warehousing gathering data and implementing food safety programs.

  14. Assists in monitoring, recording, trend analysis, and reporting on the Food Safety and Quality System metrics including the Organic program.

  15. Assist in the implementation of cGMP's, HACCP and prerequisite program action items to assure current and effective programs.

  16. Perform training on topics as needed to meet company requirements such as cGMP, allergen, HACCP and food safety.

  17. Perform as KDC's backup contact for customer audits, regulatory audits and third-party food safety and quality systems audits.

  18. Assist in verification and validation of food safety and quality system audits of vendors.

  19. Must have knowledge writing new and edit existing food safety and quality system procedures and forms.

  20. Maintains a high level of self-motivation including the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

  21. Utilize word processing and Excel software to design quality procedures, method instruction and control plans.
