Description

This position is for a Senior Network Security Engineer with a concentration on Nextgen Firewalls technologies (Cisco and Palo Alto). The right candidate will be a self-starter who can serve in a technical lead role, provide technical project management/oversight, and provide hands-on support at an SME level within areas of focus.



Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead engineer working with application team to properly shape firewall rules
  • Act as a liaison between the firewall team and Information Security.
  • System baselining
  • System requirements gathering
  • Engineer/Implementation of Cisco Nextgen firewalls
  • Engineer/Implementation of Palo Alto Nextgen firewalls
  • Developing and supporting migrations between various firewall platforms (e.g. Cisco to Palo)
  • Developing and evaluating layer 3 and layer 7 firewall rules
  • Supporting and implementing holistic security stacks relative to Nextgen Firewalls (e.g. IPS, IDS, Layer 7 rules, etc.)
  • Develop and support IPSEC VPN tunnels
  • Develop and support remote access VPNs
  • Manage and implement Firewall code updates
  • In depth troubleshooting and supporting of firewall fleet exceeding 100 nodes
  • Evaluate technical solutions in response to business challenges
  • Provide thought leadership in support continuous improvements
  • Present technical solutions as needed for knowledge sharing and acceptance
  • Provide project support and status reporting
  • Establish and maintain system documentation
  • Represent changes via CAB meetings
  • Present new solutions and architectures via ARB meetings  
  • Collaborate with partnering teams in support of solution development and deployment


Qualifications
  • Advance hands on experience and knowledge of Firewall technologies
  • Extensive experience with hands on experience and knowledge of Cisco Catalyst switches
  • Extensive experience with routing and switching
  • Advance hands on experience and knowledge with System design, administration, and security
  • Strong team player, able to communicate and show leadership amongst teams of similarly knowledgeable specialists and Engineers
  • Experience supporting technical teams in a lead role
  • Experience working with Incident, Problem, and Change Management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity and/or prior experience working with Cloud environment(s) (e.g. Azure, AWS, or OCI)
  • Active CISSP Certification
  • Active Certification in Cisco and/or Palo Alto
