The CIS department is currently looking for qualified individuals interested in teaching in the field of CIS. 

Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery methods (such as hybrid or online instruction), day, evening, and weekend classes, and maybe at multiple sites. Part-time faculty must be able to work collegially in a team environment. This is a temporary, non-benefits eligible position. Employment is determined on a course to course, semester to semester basis.

Special note for any applicant who resides outside of the State of Arizona: If you are selected for a role with CCC and do not move to Arizona, your employment will be through Kelly Educational Services. 

Hiring pay is $1,107 per load hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses, adhering to course outlines and student learning objectives. 
  • Prepare and implement syllabi in accordance with college procedures and course outlines.
  • Keep and submit all essential instructional records according to the College calendar, including reporting grades and attendance.
  • Notify the Lead Faculty and email classcancellations@coconino.edu in case of absence from class. Work to find a substitute to cover class when possible.  
  • Follow all college policies and procedures, including information on Letter of Intent (semester contract). 
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner. 
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (Canvas) to at least the minimum threshold as indicated in college procedures. 
  • Check CCC email and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. 
  • Attend college meetings as required.  This includes New Faculty Orientation upon hire and a beginning of semester all faculty meeting. 
  • Participate in student assessment and relevant program assessment as directed by the Lead faculty or Dean. 
  • Remain current in practices, trends, and research related to the discipline area. 
  • Actively engages in Assessment of Courses and works to engage in the college-wide assessment program.
  • Follow the same accepted standards of conduct as the full-time faculty as described in applicable administrative procedures which relate to satisfactory service and conduct becoming a faculty member.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to teach assigned courses effectively. Knowledge of the subject area, computer, and related technology (including Learning Management System). Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of students and staff. Ability to support and promote the mission, values, purposes, and strategic plan of the College. Ability to work in a culturally diverse and team environment. Ability to integrate subject areas with other related curricula. Knowledge of the applicable state and federal laws, such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Minimum Qualifications

Depends on class being taught. Classes that align with industry certifications require the instructor to have a current certification in that area plus a minimum Associate’s degree in the field of CIS and 3 years directly related industry experience or equivalent as outlined in the qualification rubric for CIS

Associate’s degree (or higher) in the field of Computer Information Systems 

  • Any of the following areas is within the teaching field of Computer Information Systems: Information Systems, Information Technology (IT or IFT), Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems Management (ISM), Computer Science and Engineer (CSE), Computer Science (CS), Geographic Information Systems/Science Technology, Informatics 

AND 3 years directly related industry experience

  AND valid certifications, as required, to teach specific coursework[i]  (e.g. CompTIA (e.g. A+, Network+, Security+), AWS, Google, CCNA, MCSE)

   *CIS243: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Certified Solutions Architect Associate

   *CIS244: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Certified SysOps Administrator Associate

   *CIS245: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Certified Developer Associate

CIS120 requires a Master’s degree (or higher) in the field of Computer Information Systems) or equivalent as outlined in the qualification rubric for CIS.

Preferred

Master’s degree (or higher) in the field of Computer Information Systems 

AND 3 years directly related industry experience

AND valid certifications, as required, to teach specific coursework[i]  (e.g. CompTIA (e.g. A+, Network+, Security+), AWS, Google, CCNA, MCSE)


Enthusiasm for teaching and learning and willingness to share excitement with the CCC community.  Commitment to student success.  Experience teaching in a higher education setting.  Experience working with diverse students and colleagues.   Experience using learning management systems (i.e. Canvas, Blackboard, etc).
