Position Summary
The SIS analyst will be part of a team responsible for administering the Banner student information system ( SIS ) for use by the CSU System. The Banner system is the core software in the SIS ecosystem where education records for all students are managed. The SIS Analyst must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as evidenced by the ability to facilitate discussion and interpret business needs from end-users in order to translate those needs into technical specifications and communicate those requirements to Information System partners. The SIS Analyst will use design and documentation techniques to define business problems; use professional experience and analytical techniques to identify feasible courses of action; design and test practical solutions; document the best course(s) of action for managerial review; and assist in the implementation of the selected solution. The position will ensure the functionality and integrity of the SIS by testing and validating that upgrades are ready for production, maintaining rule tables, writing edit reports to locate and then resolve data issues, troubleshooting system issues, creating solutions to problems, and providing training for internal and external constituents. Applications used by the Office of the Registrar that make up the SIS include Banner Student (to include the general person, general student, course catalog, class schedule, registration, academic history, and security modules), Banner Workflow, Banner Document Management, u.achieve, Transferology, CourseLeaf CAT and CIM , Event Management System, and Application Manager. The SIS Analyst serves as a resource for other professional staff across campus and works closely with Information Systems; the Office of Financial Aid; Accounts Receivable Operations; Admissions, Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness; the Graduate School; academic departments; and other areas where student information is used. Position may involve some in-state travel.
