Security Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Performs interior/exterior building and perimeter patrols to prevent fire, theft, misuse and
vandalism to property. Inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.
• Secures or unlocks facility doors/entrances at specified times.
• Observes and assesses behavior while monitoring the lobby and entrances/exits to deter
incidents and ensure activity is not detrimental to the organization.
• Provides security education and training and help facilitate emergency drills.
Emergent Situations
• Responds to all emergency calls for assistance
• Communicates with leadership in the health center and offsite departments to coordinate
response.
• De-escalates situations by presence and verbal engagement
• Documents situations and occurrences in an incident report
• Assists law enforcement, fire, and EMS when needed
Customer Service
• Provides assistance and information to patients, visitors, and staff to maintain good public
relations.
• Serves as first point of contact regarding security assistance for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assists patients, staff, and visitors with lost and found items.
• Answers general questions related to security policies and procedures.
• Provides assistance to patients and visitors needing special attention.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism even during escalated situations.

QUALIFICATIONS
• HS Diploma or General Education Diploma
• Certification & Licensure
• PSO (Proprietary Private Security Officer)
 
Skills & Knowledge
• General knowledge of the security officer duties and requirements.
• Physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgement and diplomacy
necessary to work effectively in a healthcare environment.
• Critical thinking

• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to write incident reports and read business related correspondence and procedure
manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients and
visitors.
• Ability to solve problems.
 
REQUIREMENTS
• HS Diploma or GED
• Three years or more of Security experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to write incident reports
• Computer skills to include Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, and Excel
