We are seeking a highly motivated Security Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 to join our Security Engineering team. You will contribute to ongoing projects aimed at safeguarding our infrastructure, applications, and sensitive data. This internship will offer real-world exposure to the tools, technologies, and methodologies used in modern cybersecurity, allowing you to expand your skills and knowledge while making a tangible impact on our security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and responding to security incidents, including threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and mitigation.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of security protocols for various applications and systems.
  • Conduct security audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Research emerging threats, new technologies, and best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security standards are integrated into product development and business processes.
  • Help develop security awareness training materials for employees.
  • Document findings, contribute to security reports, and present recommendations to team leaders.
  • Support projects in areas like network security, cloud security, identity and access management, and incident response.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills using REST APIs to integrate with third party software.
  • Proficient in programming or scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and basic encryption techniques.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), network security tools, and vulnerability scanning software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong attention to detail.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with SIEM tools, firewalls, or endpoint detection and response systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, and their security frameworks.
  • Understanding of ethical hacking, penetration testing, and incident response best practices.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, JavaScript).
  • Knowledge of software development fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Problem-solving mindset and a passion for learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • College Juniors and above
  • One year of experience working in a retail environment is preferred. Retail operations experience in the specific functional area is a plus.

Other

  • Previous coding projects or internship experience is a plus

Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with development tools and integrated development environments (IDEs) relevant to the role, such as Visual Studio Code, Eclipse,
  • Familiarity with web development technologies like HTML, CSS, and front-end JavaScript frameworks
  • Understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases)
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and an understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies as required by the internship.
