Job Description:
The Network and Security Engineer is a skilled and motivated professional responsible for managing and enhancing the company's network infrastructure and security posture, with a particular focus on cloud security and managing office networks. The ideal candidate has a strong background in network setup and configuration, security management, and compliance standards. They will work closely with the IT Manager to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of the network and systems. This position requires the individual to figure out tasks independently with minimal supervision within the network and security aspects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Set up, configure, and maintain network routers, switches, and access points.
- Manage and optimize office network infrastructure for high availability and performance.
- Configure and manage Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for secure remote access.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Setup, configure, and maintain DNS, including managing DNS records and understanding DNS protocols.
- Set up and manage Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems such as Azure Sentinel.
- Respond to security incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
- Implement and configure Zscaler security solutions across the company.
- Manage Microsoft Defender and Trend Micro for ongoing security monitoring and issue resolution.
- Manage Microsoft Intune for app deployments and device management.
- Configure and enforce Azure conditional access policies.
- Work with Microsoft Purview for data labeling and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies.
- Ensure all network and security practices align with CMMC, NIST 800-171, and ISO 27001 standards.
- Participate in compliance audits and implement necessary controls.
- Assist with helpdesk items such as user management, exchange, and SharePoint to provide troubleshooting support when needed.
- Collaborate with the IT team to support various projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff as needed.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in network or security roles.
- Proven experience with network hardware and cloud solutions.
- Hands-on experience setting up and managing SIEM solutions.
- Experience cloud-based solutions like Zscaler or similar.
- Experience with EDR or similar endpoint security solutions.
- Proficiency in Azure AD and Microsoft 365.

- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Security+
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals AZ-900
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of network protocols, infrastructure, and topology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Azure, Intune, Conditional Access policies, and Microsoft Purview.
- Knowledge of compliance standards: CMMC, NIST 800-171, ISO 27001.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on documentation and process improvement.
