What you will do: 

You will perform simple to moderately complex monitoring and incident management for SCDOR environments and provide technical solutions that serve to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.


Primary job duties include: 

  • Monitoring, identifying, reporting, and resolving simple to moderately complex problems affecting security and availability.  
  • Preparing monitoring reports and working with the team to make recommendations on corrective measures.  
  • Resolving more complex issues with specific directives to infrastructure for resolution with an emphasis on tracking incident progress.   
  • Developing and improving event, alert, and reporting mechanisms for the team and stakeholders.  
  • Creating moderately complex procedures and playbooks as assigned.  
  • Producing attestation and collateral within the required time period.  
  • Assisting units with information security risk assessments.  
  • Translating security requirements into functional specifications and requirements.  
  • Assisting with the analysis and development of security plans for various systems.  

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Either:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in the information technology field to include experience in a security-focused role OR 
  2. Four years of experience in the information technology field to include experience in a security-focused role  

Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Preferred Qualifications

These qualifications are not required but are considered when setting a starting salary. 

  • Knowledge of security administration for various operating systems and software
  • Ability to write detailed technical documentation on security procedures
  • Basic analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of information risks, concepts, and principles

  • Hours: Flexible hours may be available from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week).  You may need to work a shift that could be between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Job hours are subject to changed based on availability of personnel.    
  • Telework schedule: This position may be eligible to work remotely up to two days per week.
