Position Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance or a closely related field.  This position is primarily within a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc., and requires infrequent travel. 

Typical responsibilities include:

    • Perform log analysis, vulnerability scans, analyze data, and generate vulnerability reports
    • Perform Malware/Virus removal and analysis
    • Secure Windows operating systems via Microsoft Endpoint Manager & CrowdStrike Falcon
    • Utilize PowerShell to perform security audits
    • Create phishing emails to test employee awareness and generate reports from results
    • Perform phishing mailbox monitoring and remediation
    • Perform threat feed monitoring and updating 
    • Perform SEIM / MDR / XDR tool incident monitoring/handling
    • Perform software analysis
    • Configure tools that may come in the form of virus software, password vaults, and vulnerability management software
    • Assist in implementing policies and procedures that align with common security frameworks such as NIST800-171 and ISO27001
    • Assist incident response duties by investigating security incidents and threat hunting
    • Cybersecurity projects
    • Maintain excellent client relations
    • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:

    • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance or a closely related field is required

Skills/Experience

    • Excellent organizational skills are required
    • A strong and demonstrable interest in cybersecurity is required
    • A strong understanding of Windows Active Directory is required
    • Operating knowledge of Windows 10 Operating Systems, Windows Server, and Kali Linux is required
    • Knowledge of coding/scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, Bash, etc., is required
    • General technical background in troubleshooting computing systems is required
    • Basic Linux command line knowledge is required
    • Familiarity with Microsoft O365 products is required
    • Occasional periods of intense concentration as well as average strength and stamina is required
    • A desire to learn is required
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required
    • Basic knowledge of reading, writing and arithmetic is required
    • Professional Certifications in CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, and CompTIA CySA+ a plus
