General Statement of Duties
The Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) is responsible for providing technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology (IT) initiatives that improve cost effectiveness, service delivery, and program development for the Infrastructure domain. The DCIO will serve on the IT Leadership team assisting with the planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized operations, working to implement and maintain the most efficient and effective enterprise-wide IT operations possible.
Distinguishing Features of the Class
The DCIO reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will be able to step in for the CIO at any time. They will supervise the organization’s information systems staff within the Infrastructure domain. The DCIO will assist the CIO in the coordination, facilitation, and consultation with county departments on information systems, communications, and management systems initiatives. They are responsible for the management of multiple information and communications systems and projects for their domain. The DCIO will help ensure that County information systems standards meet appropriate regulatory and legislation requirements, such as HIPAA and PCI Compliance.

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
Graduation with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field of study, with at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in information technology management, three (3) years of which must have included the management of professional information technology personnel.
Other combinations of education and experience which meet the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Applicable job experience can be substituted for education.
The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
