Summary: Oversee the credit union’s technology infrastructure and information system tools. Develop short and long term technology objectives to provide efficient and cost-effective technology tools to the credit union. Lead, manage, direct, and coordinate the planning, production, and activities of a credit union’s information technology department- including data management, information security, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence initiatives. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works as a strategic partner with the CEO and the leadership team to provide vision and leadership for business initiatives including, but not limited to development, revision, and implementation of objectives, goals, policies, products, procedures, and programs of the IT and Data Security department. Manages, updates, communicates, and ensures compliance with the disaster recovery plan for the CU. Develops, updates, maintains, and regulates an all-inclusive computer security and loss prevention program for the CU.
  • Monitors the marketplace for changes in the information technology and data security industries and researches, tracks, and analyzes IT activities and results. Logically directs, controls, develops and implements processes and procedures to maximize effectiveness of IT and data security functions in accordance with company goals and objectives. Develops and implements strategies and tactical goals to ensure IT and data security success that will enhance and complement the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
  • Leads the IT team, who are responsible for strategic and tactical projects (infrastructure, end-user support and collaboration applications), to maximize productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness of the department. This includes hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, development, training to ensure compliance with IT, data security, regulatory requirements, and internal service level agreements.
  • Aligns IT team’s defined activities to achieve goals that are in line with overall credit union objectives, mission, vision, service promises, and strategic plans. Ensures that the Credit Union follows all IT and data security regulations; develops procedural changes as compliance requires or new programs demand.
  • Manages and negotiates contracts for the purchase, maintenance, and support of internal data processing systems and the provision of external data processing systems in accordance with the overall budget and strategic plan of the CU. Monitors and compares prices with vendors to ensure best cost and reliable service of computer equipment. Ensures that all third-party relationships meet due diligence requirements.
  • Manages the annual technology budget for the CU. Participates in the development and employment of the strategic plan and ensures technology solutions support the plan.
  • Review and evaluate project feasibility studies based on management’s requirements, priorities, and cost constraints.
  • Research industry trends in technology and ensure that the credit union’s information system structure and equipment is adequate to meet member needs and strategic plan.
  • Manage, update, communicate, and ensure compliance with the disaster recovery plan for the credit union.
  • Works with internal and external auditors and regulators as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a related field). Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years or related technology experience, preferably with financial institutions. Extensive involvement within the CU industry is highly desirable.
  • Successful demonstration and experience of being a positive and effective leader of an IT Department within a medium-sized company.
  • Extensive understanding of IT infrastructure technologies including OS, Data Storage, Servers, Networks, Telephony, Web, Cloud, Technical Architecture and Performance Optimization techniques planning and tactical implementation are important attributes as well.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent is highly desirable.

  • Fiserv DNA Core experience, helpful
  • Snowflake Data Warehousing, helpful


Work Conditions:

  • Travel to branches and out of state events and conferences as needed
