Virginia Wesleyan University is seeking applications for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO is the senior technology position at Virginia Wesleyan University. This position provides the vision, innovative strategy, management and accountability for all aspects of information technology at VWU. The successful candidate is a leader with broad technical expertise and has the experience needed to oversee technology and related services that support teaching, student learning and administrative systems and functions. The CIO leads the Malbon Center for Technology department in planning, maintaining and implementing enterprise information systems that support campus operations and achieve the most effective and cost beneficial institution-wide IT operations. The CIO will also lead daily security, tactical and strategic issues relating to all facets of campus technologies -- including audio-visual systems, telephone systems and the telecommunications infrastructure at the University. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and approving all purchases of technology (hardware and software) for the University, often initiating these purchases based on institutional needs. The CIO has excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with constituents at all levels of the organization.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience, particularly in higher education to include a working knowledge of hardware, software, Virtual Environment, systems architecture and effective customer service. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field is required; Advanced degree is strongly preferred, as well as relevant professional certifications such as formal licenses/certifications relating to Microsoft, Virtual Environment and Cybersecurity. Successful candidate will have ample experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) migration and conversion. More specifically, candidate should be knowledgeable of both Ellucian and Oracle. Salary is commensurate with experience.
